Your child’s Baptism (sometimes called christening)
If you would like your child(ren) to be baptised (christened) then please contact one of the clergy team by phone or email, or drop in at our Saturday surgery sessions at St Stephen's Church in Vansittart Road between 9.30am and 10.45am to speak to a member of the team who can advise you.
In baptism we are thanking God for his gift of life and starting your child(ren) on a journey of faith, supported by you and by godparents, family, friends and the church family.
Thinking of being baptised yourself?
You are never too old to be baptised! Perhaps you are thinking about baptism for yourself. As an adult you will make promises to follow the Christian way of life and you will receive the gift of God's grace. We would be delighted to speak with you at one of our Saturday morning surgery sessions (see above). Alternatively, come along on a Sunday morning or contact a member of clergy.
The Church of England provides some helpful information about both child and adult baptisms on its website: www.churchofengland.org /weddings-baptisms-funerals /baptism.aspx
